Tyler Kofoed
Tyler was born and raised in West Jordan, and attended West Jordan High School. In his childhood he gained a great love of music as well as many other performing arts. He spent his adolescence performing in countless productions, concerts, and gigs all over the state and country.
After serving an LDS mission in Madagascar, Tyler began attending college at Salt Lake Community College and quickly became involved in the music scene there. He spent five semesters as the president of the SLCC Choirs and was also chosen as assistant conductor.
In 2010, two years after coming out, Tyler began using his leadership and logistical skills to give back to the LGBT community and got involved with the Utah Pride Festival Planning Committee. Since that time he has served for two years as the Director of Set-up and Strike and assisted the festival’s operations director with the daunting task of coordinating the massive effort of building, and then deconstructing the festival grounds.
The months spent planning and preparing for the Pride festival are some of the best parts of Tyler’s year. He loves being involved with the effort to support the amazing programs offered by the Utah Pride Center. Even more, Tyler loves helping create the incredible opportunity for LGBT individuals, both seasoned and still questioning, to be surrounded by tens of thousands of people who love and support them just as they are.
Tyler is currently president of the University of Utah Choirs, where he is finishing his undergraduate degree in vocal performance. He plans to earn his DMA in orchestral conducting. He hopes to spend his life conducting, teaching, and performing.
When he is not rehearsing, working, or performing, Tyler enjoys being with close friends, watching movies, traveling as much as possible, and exploring spiritual philosophy.
