Michelle Stephen

Michelle loves to volunteer and give her experience, knowledge and energy to many causes and events! She has had to limit herself to her biggest volunteer passion-the Utah Pride Festival. Michelle is the Director of Festival Operations for the 2012 Utah Pride Festival. She has volunteered in many capacities for many organizations but is a die-hard Pride Festival volunteer. Pride 2012 will be her ninth year volunteering for the festival. She keeps coming back because she loves to throw a good party in the park and Pride is one of the best!
Michelle loves the fact that Utah has the highest gay population per capita in the country despite any political climates that may arise. She thinks it is awesome that our festival is one of the greatest and largest, most well organized Pride festivals in the country! She sees the importance and loves having the opportunity to be one of the many faces of this community so someone that may not know an LGBT individual can see that she is a real person that loves her family, her Girl, her life and this city. As a member of the LGBT community she loves walking around holding her partner’s hand while knowing that she may have let someone see something sweet and not something ugly, bad or wrong.)

Michelle has 3 amazing kids, 1 grandbaby (with another on its way) and multiple animals. She has had the awesome luck of finding her one true love with her partner Kathy.

With being interested in many things and never wanting to do the same things day in and out, Michelle has many careers that fit together nicely. She does a combination of year round and seasonal work.as a Skin Therapist and a part year Tax Preparer. She also works for the Salt Lake City Arts Council during festival season for both the Living Traditions Festival and the Twilight Concert Series. Realizing the importance of education and having the opportunity, Michelle is embarking on getting her Bachelor’s Degree in Business with the intent of receiving an MBA and getting her CPA. It is her hope to assist not for profit organizations and small business while funding her deep desire to see the world
