Michael Westley
Michael Westley is the Vendor and Media Relations Manager for the 2012 Utah Pride Festival. He is also a member of the Steering Committee which begins festival meetings in the fall making decisions on issues like budget, theme, objective, mission and improvements. Michael attended his first Utah Gay Pride in 1994 but didn’t actually work for the festival until 2009 when he was hired as the Utah Pride Center’s Media and Special Events Coordinator. He is a Utah native, a journalist – having worked at The Salt Lake Tribune in a variety of roles for nearly 14 years – business owner, automotive guru and avid outdoorsman (specifically patio seating).
During the four festivals Michael has worked to create, promote, staff and oversee, he has earned a deep respect for those who dedicate their lives to the service of others and says his life has been enriched greatly in their company. This year, you might see Michael walking in the parade on doing an on-air interview for a local news channel. He will be sure to be on the festival grounds working with vendors, checking in on the clubs in the South Dance stage and generally having a great time!
